Thirty years ago, people in this area got together and decided to plant young blackcurrant bushes to produce Cassis de Bourgogne from the delightful Domaine de Sathenay estate.
The proprietor of Domaine de Sathenay de Gevrey-Chambertin and employees of the house of Védrenne of Nuits St. George, passionate liqueur producers, planted an area of 30ha with aromatic Noir de Bourgogne blackcurrants.
Benefiting from the special micro-climate, the berries are harvested with great care every year. Since the Domaine de Sathenay is very close, it is possible to harvest the berries and process them very fresh, thus taking advantage of optimal ripeness and achieving unparalleled aromatic intensity. This incomparable quality is what makes Crème de Cassis Domaine de Sathenay so special.
